As a child I spent many wonderful summer holidays on the north east coast of England at Filey. Now living in France I am unable to visit this lovely fishing village on a regular basis but it still holds a special place in my heart. This photo shows Filey bay at low tide where the rock pools on Filey Brigg are awash with sea life!

Some of the best fish n chips can be had in Filey and of course the only way to eat them is straight from the newspaper! As this video suggests!

Cool picture and video, there is nothing in the world like fish and chips made with fresh fish, yum!

Oooh, fish and chips, scalding hot, wrapped in newspaper, with salt and LOTS of malt vinegar. Unbeatable.

For me it was Skegness, but I don’t think I’d like it now. Not the same as it once was. Over commercialised.

Yep, the fish and chips in Filey are undoubtedly the best. I have had them from the F & C shop next to the Star Pub for 40 years although I only get to Filey once or twice a year these days. Also the cakes at Sterchis take some beating. Cool video.
