So you want to know what colour best describes your personality? Well according to this fun little quiz I am deep pink – when I read the description that goes with it I can say it fits!
” Your dominant hues are red and magenta. You love doing your own thing and going on your own adventures, but there are close friends you know you just can’t leave behind. You can influence others on days when you’re patient, but most times you just want to go out, have fun, and do your own thing.
Your saturation level is high – you get into life and have a strong personality. Everyone you meet will either love you or hate you – either way, your goal is to get them to change the world with you. You are very hard working and don’t have much patience for people without your initiative.
Your outlook on life is very bright. You are sunny and optimistic about life and others find it very encouraging, but remember to tone it down if you sense irritation.”
So I challenge you to take the test and then reveal your answer below!
Following on from my animal totems thread I had the pleasure of a raven accompanying me through part of a sleepless night last night. I was quite intrigued by this creature and obviously was unaware what he was trying to show me. Having studied several websites this morning (Animal Totem Raven, Cycle of Power) I have learnt that the Raven is a relatively complex character but above all stands for magic, healing & creation. I can understand the reason for him coming into my innermost fears, I just hope he now shows me a way to address them.
Having read a fantastic blog last week regarding Totem Animals it got me thinking about previous experiences I have had either with what I would call my Spirit Guides or with family who are no longer with us physically.
I wouldn’t say that I am an incredibly spiritual person but there are marked periods on an annual basis where I am far more aware of the spiritual life surrounding myself. I have bought a range of self-help books ranging from meeting & working with spirit guides, seeing & reading the aura, an angel a day and so on…. I was always “scared” of having my tarot cards read and refused to indulge in this until after my Dad had died. I suppose the fear was that the cards would reveal he would die – erm isn’t that life? At 38 I can answer that question a little bit better than 24.
Upon moving to France my path crossed with someone who gave me the confidence to explore life a little more. And so my understanding of Tarot began. I have two sets of cards. The Rider-Waite-Smith Tarot , these cards are relatively familiar to people interested in tarot and offer a wide range of interpretations. I enjoy using them when reading for other people. The pictures are clear and stimulating.
My second set of cards are more personal and I have never used them in a reading for someone else simply because I feel they require far more thought, meditation and inner searching. The Vision Quest Tarot are a set of Native American Wisdom cards which are beautifully illustrated. When I was in hospital last year I found myself turning to these cards on a regular basis. They helped me to accept the situation I was in and draw a great deal of strength from it. The nurses were very curious as to the meanings of these cards, trying to convey their meaning in a language which is not my mother tongue was quite challenging.
So where do the Polar bears come into it? Several years ago I experienced a meditation session. When asked to focus on an animal the first one that came into my head was a Polar bear. I can’t say I like or dislike this animal but it is an animal which I believe is with me as a guide. This links in with the blog from last week “What is your totem animal” and especially this other website which explores each animal in turn. I was fascinated to read about the Polar bear and how as an animal totem it can help me to understand certain issues. Looking back I now know why the Polar bear was with me that day.
And then there is the dragonfly , to me she represents the fragility of life. I see them often battling against the Mistral / Tramontane winds and the heat of the summer sunshine. I am so drawn to this insect with it’s grace and beauty.
After much deliberation the date has been set for our first “Rencontre de l’art et des Saveurs” at Luc Sur Orbieu. Having taken over the role of President of the Arts & Culture section I seemed to have a bit of a battle on my hands convincing other committee members (all male 50 some things) that to organise something for Valentine’s weekend would leave us running around like headless chickens. Breaking away from the past is difficult but it needs to be done. And then there was the suggestion (by me of course) to explore the “culture” side of the section rather than just limiting it to “art”. Perhaps if there is food & drink available more people will come? “Oui mais on veut faire quelque chose qui sort de l’ordinaire” was their response! I knew I was too eager and optimistic!
So petit à petit I managed to convince them that it would work together and that if we held the event in April rather than February we could hopefully attract outside stands and even a grillade at lunchtime. March here in France is a complete no no this year, the first weeeknd is “la fête des grandmères” and then the following two weekends are the all important municipal elections and then of course Easter. So I have won the first round….but I’m along way from the finishing line.
Then I had the all important task of collecting the big red folder from the ex-president sealing my fate as the new president! So what next? Well I have a folder to explore, a letter of invitation to write and I need to contact our charming village journalist to inform him not only of a change in presidency but also of the event itself!
For those of you reading this and living locally please make a note in your diary – Sunday 6 April, Salle Jean-Jaurès, Luc Sur Orbieu. Anyone requiring more information regarding exhibiting etc., please contact me as soon as possible! Ok, off to climb my mountain….
……but before I do a picture for the weekend – where in the world?
Following on from yesterday’s “tagging” session here are my 7 revelations…..
I once got caught running down the road in my pyjamas having climbed out of the Girl Guide Cottage window in the middle of the night to run amok with some other Girl Guides! I was a good Brownie but a wicked Guide!
When I was 15 I won Miss Camping and Miss Inter Camping Sérignan-Plage, the main prize was 2 weeks free holiday for all the family. I only entered because I fancied the lad who ran the ranch and I got to ride bare back in my swimming costume on one of his horses! He still runs the ranch now and we are still friends!
When working at a wedding as a silver-service waitress I accidentally missed the granddad’s plate and his roast beef & gravy ended up in his lap…he didn’t notice so I served him another slice!
A blind date in a pub once ended rather abruptly when he told me that he had come on his push-bike! I made a hasty exit!
My Dad was a drummer for the Bee-Gees in Australia before they became famous.
I read Tarot cards.
Last year I spent 8 weeks in bed without once getting out of it- I became the potty queen of ward 4!
And there you have it! So now I can turn the tables on others….so I am going to tag the following people:
Well thanks to merewoman for the tag, I now have my thinking cap on as I need to reveal 7 random facts about myself! Clean? Boring? Sobering? Naughty? Where do I start? Can I really think of 7?
Well Manon Lily is wanting to play so it will have to go on hold until tomorrow and hopefully by then I will be able to entertain you all enough! How much sleep will I lose tonight trying to come up with 7? Will my husband recognise the person behind the facts…..mmm let’s wait and see….I’m chuckling already at the thought of one of them (must remember it for tomorrow) make mental note initials HK & SH……
